On October 15, Dr. Jeffrey Gold, President of the University of Nebraska, visited Nebraska Community Blood Bank’s (NCBB) 84th and 0 Street Donor Center to personally thank staff for their exceptional efforts in the Abbott “We Give Blood” competition. He has done tremendous work encouraging Husker fans and students to roll up their sleeves and donate during the competition to help make an even greater impact and continue pushing the University of Nebraska to the top of the leaderboard.

Before assuming his role as President, Dr. Gold served as Chancellor of the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) from 2014 to 2024. A respected leader in both higher education and medicine, Dr. Gold is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, with a distinguished background as an adult and pediatric cardiac surgeon.

During his visit, Dr. Gold expressed his gratitude for the NCBB’s staff and dedication throughout the “We Give Blood” competition. He commended the team’s efforts to inspire donors, strengthen community pride, and elevate Nebraska’s standing in the competition while raising greater awareness about the importance of blood donation across the community.
