Nebraska Community Blood Bank (NCBB) is proud to recognize longtime blood donor Nick, whose commitment to saving lives was shaped by both personal values and lived experience.
Nick grew up understanding the importance of blood donation, but it was during his service in Afghanistan that the impact of blood became unmistakably clear. Seeing firsthand how critical blood is in emergency and trauma situations solidified his resolve to become a regular donor.
“Once I found out I had O negative blood, I thought it was important,” Nick shared. “You never know who you’re helping. And your body makes more, so don’t be stingy.”
As a “universal donor” Nick’s contributions have helped ensure lifesaving blood is available for patients in urgent need. Over the past two decades, his dedication has made a meaningful difference for countless individuals and families across the communities NCBB serves.
Stories like Nick’s are a powerful reminder that blood donation is more than a good deed; it is a lifeline. NCBB extends its sincere gratitude to Nick for 20 years of generosity and for inspiring others to roll up their sleeves and help save lives.
