Lincoln, Neb. — Nebraska Community Blood Bank (NCBB) was honored to attend and speak at the Nebraska Governor’s proclamation ceremony recognizing National Blood Donor Month, an annual observance highlighting the lifesaving impact of volunteer blood donors and the ongoing need for donations—particularly during the winter months.
The event underscored the critical role blood donors play in supporting patients and hospitals across Nebraska, a need that becomes even more pronounced in January as blood supplies are often strained by seasonal illnesses, severe weather, and holiday travel.
During the ceremony, Governor Jim Pillen shared his personal commitment to blood donation, announcing plans to donate blood four times with NCBB throughout the year. He encouraged Nebraskans to join him by making blood donation a regular habit, emphasizing that even a single donation can have a profound impact on saving lives in their communities.
Governor Pillen’s remarks highlighted the importance of local blood donation in ensuring a stable and reliable blood supply for Nebraska patients. His leadership and advocacy help raise awareness about the ongoing need for donors and the essential work performed by NCBB staff and volunteers every day.
NCBB is grateful for the Governor’s support and for the opportunity to participate in this important statewide recognition of National Blood Donor Month. As a community-based blood bank, NCBB remains committed to working with partners across Nebraska to strengthen the local blood supply and ensure hospitals have the blood products they need to care for patients when it matters most.
