Partnering to develop the next generation of leaders
Young people play an ever-more critical role in ensuring we are able to provide a safe and steady supply of blood to local hospitals. By hosting high school blood drives, school administrators, faculty advisors, and students have an opportunity to collaborate with the local experts and help develop the next generation of leaders.
Students are making a life-saving difference
Each year we partner with more than 20 area high schools to help young people begin to build a life-long commitment to community service as blood donors and as leaders in organizing and conducting successful school-sponsored blood drives.
Two unique components—Student Scholarships and the High School Blood Drive Workshop—provide education, training, recognition, and financial support to graduating seniors in their post-high school academic pursuits.
- Student Scholarships
Nebraska Community Blood Bank partners with area high schools to provide graduating seniors—selected by school faculty or advisors—with financial scholarships to help support their continuing education. Scholarship funds awarded to each school are cumulative, based on the total units of blood collected throughout the academic year once minimum requirements are met.
It's easy to help your students qualify.
Collect a minimum of 50 units of blood at your Nebraska Community Blood Bank blood drives during the school year and earn student scholarships for graduating seniors.
Host more blood drives, engage more students in donating blood, and earn more financial awards to distribute among your most deserving students.
Host 2 or more blood drives and we'll help everyone celebrate at the last blood drive with T-shirts!
- High School Workshop
The annual High School Blood Drive Workshop is a one-day training and education event that inspires student leaders to give back through community service, enhance their leadership and customer service skills, and play an important role in saving lives through blood donation. They will have an opportunity to:
Expand their knowledge of blood—what it is, what it does, and why it is so critical to saving and sustaining lives.
Hear from real-life donors and recipients how blood impacts the lives of others.
Collaborate with other students to plan blood drives, generate innovative ideas, and learn from peer-to-peer experiences.
Generate visibility for their school on social media.
2021 High School Workshop:
This year's High school workshop will be a virtual training. Schools are being asked to schedule time with their Account Manager for a virtual workshop session which will be held individually with each student group and their Account Manager.
The process is easy. The rewards are life-changing.
