12 Days of Hope
Nebraska Community Blood Bank is proud to partner with local fire and police departments to help save lives in honor of Lincoln Police Officer Mario Herrera.
Two years ago, Officer Herrera was shot in the line of duty. Despite receiving many blood transfusions and phenomenal care from our local hospitals and first responders, Officer Herrera did not survive his injuries. With the help of life-sustaining blood given by generous donors, Mario and his family were given 12 extra days together following this tragic event before he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Together with his friends and family, we invite you to give blood on Friday, August 26 during the 12 Days of Hope in honor of Officer Herrera.
