During this year’s Fourth of July holiday, the Nebraska Community Blood Bank (NCBB) is recognizing the military in an armed forces blood donation challenge.
Beginning Monday, July 2, to Saturday, July 14, all branches of the military, including veterans, and members of the community are encouraged to donate and vote for their favorite military branch. Votes can be cast by filling out a Count Me In card when registering to donate at any NCBB fixed site or blood drive.
To kick-off this patriotic campaign, a community event will be held on July 2, at NCBB’s 27th and Fletcher location (2700 Fletcher Ave.) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Along with a variety of activities, members of various military branches will be at the event to promote the campaign and give blood. The community is also invited to enjoy a hotdog lunch, courtesy of Ayers and Ayers and cupcakes, courtesy of Serendipities.
Throughout the day, Matt McKay from local station KFRX will be broadcasting live and all those in attendance will have the opportunity to enter a drawing for a variety of prizes. Additional drawings will take place after the campaign for all those who registered to donate and vote.
During the campaign and continuing through the end of July, NCBB will be collecting care items for military personnel currently serving our country. Collection barrels will be at all NCBB fixed sites.
